Experience the Mazda Furai in Forza Horizon 6’s Japan

Forza Horizon 6 is now rolling out around the world with Premium Edition Early Access on Xbox Series X|S and PC – and is also available with the Premium Upgrade for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass! To coincide with the launch of the game, the Festival Playlist is welcoming you to Japan with 10 unmissable cars to add to your collection.

As we get ready to introduce you all to the breathtaking landscapes of Japan, in this blog, we’re going to walk you through the Festival Playlist in Forza Horizon 6, how you can obtain reward cars, as well as the post-launch content you can expect in the first few weeks of release in Series 1 (Welcome to Japan) and Series 2 (Horizon Decades).

There’s also the Time Attack Car Pack which includes 8 amazing new cars tuned for those Japanese circuits. Additionally, we’re going to spotlight the vehicles coming to Car Pass throughout Series 1 and Series 2. (Car Pass is included in the Forza Horizon 6 Deluxe and Premium Editions, as well as the Premium Upgrade, and sold separately.)

Festival Playlist

With the Festival Playlist, you can unlock new rewards each week and expand your car, clothing, and item collection – all by completing different events including races, stunts, photo challenges, and more. It’s unlocked once you’ve earned your first Wristband at the Horizon Festival, which can be achieved during the first few hours of gameplay.

Forza Horizon 6 introduces new challenge types, and you can expect to see more rewards from challenges on the Festival Playlist than ever before.

Two Seasonal reward cars are unlockable each week, and in the first series you can obtain the ultra-elusive 2008 Mazda Furai by earning 60 PTS on the Festival Playlist. Powered by a modified, 450-horsepower, 20B 3-rotor Wankel engine, the Furai – meaning “sound of the wind” – is undoubtedly the perfect car to experience on the roads of Japan.

Forza Horizon 6 also introduces unique secondary rewards to the Festival Playlist. Series History Rewards includes exclusive cars that are unlocked based on the lifetime Playlist Points that you have obtained from playing the game.

With the Festival Playlist, there’s always new events to play and exciting rewards to obtain, so be sure to check it out once you’ve earned your place at the Horizon Festival! These will include The Trial, which will be available for Horizon Legends starting in Series 2. We made the decision to not include any Trial events in Series 1 to avoid placing any pressure on players to rush through earning the final Wristband in the game.

In addition, you can earn a special Cherry Blossom Badge for your in-game profile by completing each type of Festival Playlist activity in Series 1.

2008 Mazda Furai

In 2008 the Mazda Furai debuted as a unique concept car that blends futuristic design with race engineering. The showstopping looks of the Furai were designed to maximize grip and air flow dynamics. However, what made the Furai legendary was its one-of-a-kind engine: for the first time ever, a three-rotor rotary engine was powered completely by ethanol.

2010 Nissan 370Z

Earn 120 PTS during the 'Welcome to Japan’ Festival Playlist Series. Available from May 21 – June 18.

The 2010 Nissan 370Z carries on with the legacy of its badge with a 3.7-liter V6 engine and very pleasing looks. Lighter and quicker than its 350Z predecessor, the 370Z makes the most out of its 332 bhp and can reach 0-60 in just 4.7 seconds. It can also complete a quarter mile in 13.3. Take part in Japanese sports car history with your own 2010 Nissan 370Z!

1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z EDITION

If you think about taillights when you hear “Altezza” this car is the reason why. The 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 is a JDM, rear-wheel drive vehicle powered by an in-line 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 207 horsepower. The RS200 is famous for its great handling capabilities and the many ways it can be customized, including engine swaps and widebody kits!

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR

Earn 30 PTS during the Summer Season on the 'Welcome to Japan’ Festival Playlist Series. Available from May 21 – May 28

With a rally racing pedigree flowing through its veins, the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR can make quick work of Japan’s toughest roads. This iteration of the Evo comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that puts out 286 bhp and an AWD drive system that makes it agile and grippy through any corner. Make way in your garage for that iconic rear wing!

1997 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec

Earn 15 PTS during the Autumn Season on the 'Welcome to Japan’ Festival Playlist Series. Available from May 28 – June 4.

A staple of Japanese automotive performance, the 1997 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec is a racing legend built upon power and drivability. The twin-turbo 2.6-liter engine provides this car with both amazing symphony and impressive track performance. The V-Spec's AWD system gives the car superb traction and impressive handling. More than a racing icon, the GT-R is a symbol of Japanese engineering excellence.

1991 Honda CR-X SiR

The 1991 Honda CR-X SIR is an upgraded version of the CR-X, one of Honda’s most fun-to-drive cars ever made. The SIR version comes with a 1.6-liter DOHC engine and responsive steering that makes it a hit with JDM fans everywhere to this day.

2019 Subaru STI S209

Earn 15 PTS during the Winter Season on the 'Welcome to Japan’ Festival Playlist Series. Available from June 4 – June 11.

From the makers of the 22B and the S204 comes the 2019 Subaru STI S209, a special edition variant of the WRX. A flat-four 2.5-liter engine endows this car with 341 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The upgraded body found in the S209 makes the entire car more responsive and stiffer. Custom Dunlop tires, Bilstein dampers, an adjustable wing, and new brake pads stick the car to the ground in tight corners, making one of the most powerful Subarus ever made a pleasure to handle.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Trucks AT37

An already imposing off-road truck, the Land Cruiser gets an Icelandic-style makeover to transform into the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Trucks AT37. Explore any surface you can find with the modified frame, inner arches, and body fitted into the AT37. Tower over absolutely every obstacle you can find in this ready-for-anything truck!

1996 Toyota Starlet Glanza V

JDM fans from all over the world go out of their way to get their hands on a 1996 Toyota Starlet Glanza V. The Glanza V is the most potent available version of the Starlet line, equipped with a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that produces 115 horsepower all sent to the front of the car. What’s best about this car is how easy it is to modify; even the simplest tweaks greatly improve this car’s performance!

1974 Toyota Corolla SR5

Earn 30 PTS during the Spring Season on the 'Welcome to Japan’ Festival Playlist Series. Available from June 11 – June 18.

One of the best-selling compact cars ever made, the Toyota Corolla is a synonym for reliability and dependability. The 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5 was an attempt to bring the car to new markets, hence the almost muscle car-esque looks. The SR5 sports a 1.6L four-cylinder engine and comes with a rear-wheel drive type.

Time Attack Car Pack

With the release of Forza Horizon 6, the Time Attack Car Pack is also now available for purchase on the Microsoft Store and Steam, and it’s included with Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition and the Premium Upgrade at no additional cost.

Forza Horizon 6’s Car Pass delivers 30 new cars that, one by one, will be delivered to your garage each week. Car Pass is the ultimate way to upgrade your collection with some of the freshest cars making their debut at the Horizon Festival.

All cars included in the Car Pass grant you a one-time only, free addition of each car to your in-game garage so you can save those hard-earned credits.

Here are the cars you can look forward to experiencing in Japan over the next four weeks:

1990 Nissan #12 Skyline GT-R (BNR32 Gr. A) JTC

With an astonishing 29 winning rounds of the Japan Touring Car Championship, which translates into four years of wins, the 1990 Nissan #12 Skyline GT-R (BNR32 Gr. A) JTC has cemented itself as a piece of modern automotive history. An inline 6-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine powers this beast, and the impressive way it handles corners is all thanks to a Super HICAS four-wheel steering and the ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. Be it drag racing or time attacks, nothing is too much of a challenge for the Skyline GT-R!

2024 Koenigsegg Gemera

Innovation takes many shapes and sizes; in the 2024 Koenigsegg Gemera, it looks like four seats in a hyper-fast plug-in hybrid vehicle. The Gemera sports three electric engines, two on the back wheels and the Dark Matter engine sitting on the front axle, as well as a 2.0 twin-turbocharged gas engine. This is also the first time the Swedish monster makers have put an all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering system on a car. Share the Koenigsegg experience with the whole family with the Gemera!

1972 Datsun #269 Attacking the Clock Racing 240Z ‘All Carbon Hill Climb Beast’

“Customized” comes short when talking about this car. Almost entirely made out of carbon fiber, fitted with a front splitter, a rear wing, a body, and an almost endless list of parts, the 1972 Datsun #269 Attacking the Clock 240z ‘All Carbon Hill Climb Beast’ was built with one goal in mind: to be the fastest at the track. This tiny monster packs 800 bhp and weighs less than 2,400 lbs, so make sure you have enough room before you let that gas pedal rip!

2008 Honda Civic Type R (FD2)

Reading Type R in the back of a car can only mean one thing: you are in for quite a ride. The 2008 Honda Civic Type R is the JDM version of the third generation of Honda's tuned daily drive. To improve the Type R's cornering, this generation was built with a longer wheelbase and independent rear suspension, and featured larger brakes than its EP3 predecessor. Powering this car is a K20A 2.0-liter engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The aero package on the exterior of this car aids in performance and gives it the exact look you want on a fierce street racer.
